Design Interpretive helps Tatara Systems deliver an easy-to-use Wi-Fi management tool.

Tatara Systems develops service delivery platforms for public wireless LAN service providers. The Tatara Service Manager is a small footprint application that runs on an end user’s Wi-Fi enabled laptop or PDA.

Tatara Systems engaged Design Interpretive to help in the development of their latest version of their Wi-Fi offering. Their goal was to use the client application to accelerate the adoption of WiFi services for public WLAN service providers. Our brief was to combine existing technology protocols, increase their feature set and wrap it up with a fresh new look and feel all while adhering to a budget.

After conducting a GUI workshop to identify usability concerns, we designed an architecture enabling their target customers to connect to the service with an absolute minimum amount of user input. Branding concepts exploited users familiarity with existing control panels and kept the complexity of network connectivity hidden from the user. They get a simple and consistent experience across multiple network technologies such as 802.11 and 1XRTT.
