Industrial Design - Chantry Networks Beacon Master...

On the success of their Beacon Point product, Chantry returns to Design Interpretive to add form to an important network element in Chantry Networks WLAN offering.

As the result of a highly successful first encounter with Design Interpretive, Chantry Networks re-engages DI to package their main network element, the Beacon Master.

Chantry's request was for two industrial design solutions. One, a unit that explored all traditional methods of sheet-metal manufacturing consistent with Chantry's initial projections for sales in the first year. And option two, would explore what might be possible if the numbers were greater.

In both instances Design Interpretive's industrial design team were driven to meet Chantry's mechanical requirements as well as keying off the established visual vocabulary of the Beacon Point product. Design features such as robust carrying handles, an effective cooling strategy and easy access to serviceable components were incorporated into the final solutions.

Option two was chosen unanimously by the Chantry design team over the more utility-like concept one, for reasons that it was more consistent with the leading edge technology that it housed. Also by introducing innovative molding technologies appropriate with their sales volume projections, production costs were brought down to a very acceptable level.
